He was the first all-American in McNeese State football history after the school became a four year college. He was a hard hitting defensive end and earned his AA from the Associated Press in 1952. He also received all-conference recognition from the Gulf States Conference that same year. An Army veteran, Kuehn would later return to McNeese and serve numerous years as an assistant football coach and head track coach. As football coach he was one of the top recruit­ers in McNeese history and as track coach he was named the GSC’s track coach of the year in 1964. He would later become a principal and administrator in the Calcasieu Parish school system. An avid weight trainer, the McNeese weight room is named in his honor. (DECEASED)
