He was a two sport most valuable athlete for the Cowboys, in football and baseball, playing from 1958 to 1961. A two-way performer in football (running back and defensive back), he was named the team’s MVP in 1960 and the baseball team’s MVP the same year. An all-conference football selection, he led the league in pass interceptions in 1960 with seven. In baseball as an infielder he led his team in doubles, stolen bases, home runs and RBIs at different times in his career. In his MVP year he was the team leader in home runs, RBIs and doubles. He went on to play four seasons of Class AA baseball in the Detroit Tiger organization as a shortstop and third baseman. He resides in Albany, GA.
