He was a starter on the Cowboys national champion bas­ketball team in the 1955-56 season. He was the quarter­back on the field, playing the point guard position. His main duty was to get the ball inside but he was also an accurate shot outside and one of the top defensive players in the Gulf States Conference. He played four years for the Cowboys, averaging five points a game and posting a career .739 free throw shooting percentage. He went on to a standout career as a high school coach, winning over 700 games and three state titles. He has been inducted into the Louisiana High School coaches association Hall of Fame. He is retired and lives in Fenton.
