SOUTH BEND – McNeese long distance runner
Bonnie Andres earned he first career win in her 5000-meter run debut in the first day of the Meyo Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend Friday night.
Andres is in her first season as a Cowgirl and has already won her first event in only the fourth race of her career finishing with a time of 17:04.96.
Tia Andrews participated in the 60 meter run prelims and finished fourth with a time of 7.55 to qualify for the finals tomorrow.
Cowgirl
Alanna Arvie competed in the weight throw, hitting a mark of 62-10.50, good enough to earn ninth place in the field. She will also participate in the shot put come Saturday.
For the Cowboys,
Darion Dunn took fourth place in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 8.04 qualifying him for tomorrows finals.
Junior sprinter
Joshua Raphael ran in the men's 60 meter prelims, finishing with a time of 6.81, good enough for fifth and qualifying him for the finals tomorrow.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow for the rest of the track and field events in day two of the meet before returning home.
