He is the younger of the standout Lawrence brothers, having been a dominate figure in the Southland Conference basketball circles from 1977 to 1980. He earned all-American, all-conference and all-Louisiana honors and was also named the player of the year in the SLC in 1979. Lawrence remains the fourth leading all-time scorer in McNeese history with 1,938 points and a 17.8 average and is the third leading all-time rebounder with 1,026 and a 9.4 average. He also ranks second in blocked shots. Twice a McNeese MVP, he was drafted by Seattle of the NBA and played several years there before heading to Europe where he has played and coached.
