TAILGATE RULES & POLICIES

Athletic events provide an avenue for the University to meet its core values of excellence, community, diversity, and learning. In support of these values, athletic events should be conducted in an environment that is safe and enjoyable for all. As home football games have great potential to attract many spectators, many of whom also participate in tailgating activities, the following policy has been developed for these events.

Tailgating is permitted in parking areas surrounding Cowboy Stadium with the proper parking passes.
If tents are being used, the tent shall be UL approved and have a Fire Resistive Rating Label. Tents used for grilling shall be completely open on all sides. Please note: No tents are allowed prior to 12PM on the day before the game.
Consumption of alcohol will be limited to persons of legal age (21 or greater).
Individual(s) or groups engaging in inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be directed by law enforcement personnel to cease and desist from doing so.
Outside Alcohol is not permitted within the stadium. Once inside the stadium, alcohol may only be purchased from the authorized vendors.
All persons entering the stadium are subject to a reasonable check/search of personal bags, purses, coats, etc. Anyone found in possession of alcoholic beverages and/or other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate by the University will be refused admission to the game. Any individual found in possession of said items inside the stadium will be evicted from the stadium and will not be allowed to reenter the stadium for the remainder of the calendar day in which the game is held.
Cups, containers, ice chests, etc. may not be brought into the stadium.
Unattended ice chests are prohibited.
Subleasing of spots is strictly prohibited.
McNeese Athletics does not allow banners, signage, and product placement without prior approval. Only companies that have corporate sponsor agreements with McNeese Athletics may display their signage.
The sale of merchandise or consumables is strictly prohibited without prior consent from the McNeese Athletics Department.
Food and drink distribution should be confined to your party only. Companies may not issue sample products without being properly licensed by the university.
Portable generators should be placed in the least disturbing areas of your tailgate spot. (i.e. In the back of truck, in the middle of the tailgate spot, or have the muffler directed2 away from the nearest neighbor.) Also, understand that generators, which are a necessity during tailgating, are noisy and cannot be completely silenced.
Port-a-lets are placed in the tailgating area by McNeese State University.
Port-a-lets are placed in specific locations so that no one is burdened with the unpleasant aura they may sometimes provide.
Music must be confined to your tailgate area and speakers must be directed into your tailgate party. All music must be turned off by 11:00 pm the night before games and by midnight after games. Tailgaters are encouraged to contact MSU Police at (337) 475-5711 when music from another tailgate party becomes a nuisance. In addition, the game day operations staff and University Police will have sole discretion in determining if the overall volume level of the sound system is appropriate.
A reminder that Portable generators should be placed in the least disturbing areas of your tailgate spot. (i.e. In the back of truck, in the middle of the tailgate spot, or have the muffler directed away from the nearest neighbor.) Please do not put generators facing other tailgate areas.
Tailgating areas will be open at noon on Fridays before home games and will close at noon the following Sunday. Access for motor homes and campers will not be allowed after 3 p.m. on game days due to increased gameday traffic.
Lot A tailgaters may access their tailgating spots through the Lot A entrance off of McNeese St.
Along with your camper or RV, you may park 2 additional cars in your tailgating space. All vehicles must be contained within the assigned space with the appropriate parking pass. Parking passes must be displayed at all times. Any vehicle not displaying a tag is subject to removal at the owner’s expense.
Tailgating spots that choose not to bring an RV may use the "RV hang tag" for a car. Therefore, ONLY three (3) vehicles will be allowed to park in one (1) tailgate spot. If you need additional parking, parking spaces are available to purchase. Please contact the ticket office at (337) 562-4678.
Unlicensed or uninsured motorized vehicles are strictly prohibited.
All motor vehicles on the McNeese Athletic Complex must adhere to all state motor vehicle laws and traffic regulations.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers are not allowed inside the McNeese buildings.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers are not allowed to be attached, connected or in any way to be in contact with any vehicle and they must be a minimum of 10 feet away from any vehicle.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall have lids or tops.
Cooking on barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall be located a minimum 25 feet away from any building and shall not obstruct the ingress or egress from any building.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall be located a minimum 10 feet away from HVAC intakes.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall not be located on any sidewalk.
Barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall be located a minimum 25 feet away from any flammable or combustible liquids or solids.
The area within 10 feet of the barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers shall be cleared of all debris and grass shall be six inches minimum from the heating surface.
Propane Grills and Cylinders
The maximum size propane gas cylinders allowed is 20 lbs.
A maximum of one spare cylinders is allowed at any cooking location and shall be located a minimum of 10 feet from the cooking operation.
While in use and in storage, propane gas cylinders shall be in the upright position or positioned so that the pressure relief valve is in direct communication with the vapor space of the cylinder.3
At the conclusion of the cooking process, properly dispose of all combustible material.
To properly extinguish charcoals, pour water on the charcoals and dispose of them in a metal container with a metal top/cover. Do not put charcoals in any trash receptacle/bin/ dumpster.
Shut off valves prior to disconnecting propane cylinders from barbecue grills/smokers and/or deep fryers.
Propane cylinders shall be removed from grills prior to storing the grill.
Grills shall be fully cooled prior to storage, then properly secure and clean up your area

Failure to follow these rules and regulations may result in eviction from the Athletic Complex with possible University, local, or state action to follow.
