Nic Jacobs signed to Jacksonville Jaguars 53-man roster

Former McNeese Cowboy tight end Nic Jacobs was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday from the New Orleans Saints practice squad in one of several moves made by the Jaguars on the day.

Jacobs, a native of Many, played two years at LSU before transferring to McNeese for the 2013 season where he ranked second on the team with 32 catches and scored four touchdowns in helping the Cowboys post a 10-3 record.

Jacobs is currently listed third on the Jaguars' depth chart behind starter Clay Harbor and second-teamer Mickey Shuler.

The 6-foot-5, 269-pounder earned first team all-Southland Conference honors last season as a junior and bypassed his senior year to enter the NFL Draft. The Saints signed him to an undrafted free agent contract and cut him on their final cuts of the preseason and quickly signed him to the practice squad.

He's the only McNeese Cowboy currently on an active NFL 53-man roster.
