The Pokes posted a .350 batting average over the weekend, with junior Cameron Toole leading the way with a .857 batting average along with six hits, two doubles, two walks, three RBI and two runs scored. Junior-transfer Connor Crane also has an outstanding weekend at the plate batting .462 along with six hits, two doubles, two homeruns, two RBIs and three runs scored. With 35 hits, eight walks, and six hit batters over a three game stretch, the Cowboys posted a .422 on-base percentage against UAPB. McNeese was also a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts with Crane and senior Andrew Guillotte led the team with two apiece.

The McNeese pitching staff had an outstanding weekend on the mound with sophomore Trent Fontenot leading the charge after having tossing six innings and allowing just one run to score on two hits and struck out five batters for a 1.50 ERA. The bullpen contributed eight innings of its own and allowed just two runs for a 2.25 ERA.

The Cowboys will send senior right-hander Steven O'Bryant to the mound for Tuesday's contest. O'Bryant appeared in 28 games last season and posted a 3-5 record with a 3.55 ERA. Expected to take the mound for McNeese on Wednesday is senior Cole Prejean. Prejean worked 1.2 innings against UAPB over the weekend and posted a 6-4 record and 3.69 ERA last season.

Louisiana Tech (0-3), who is led by first-year head coach Greg Goff, made the trip to Hammond over the weekend and was swept by Southeastern Louisiana. The Bulldogs were unable to warm up the bats as they struggled with a .178 team clip and only six runs in the series.

McNeese split a two-game series with Louisiana Tech last season in Ruston. The Cowboys fell to the Bulldogs in the first game with a 6-4 loss in 11 innings before exploding for a 20-3 victory in the second game.
