LAKE CHARLES – McNeese long jumper
Kartavius Hamilton, whose leap last Saturday is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, has been named this week's Southland Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week while the Cowboys' 4x800-meter relay team garnered the league track weekly honor.
Â
Hamilton took first place at the annual Cowboy Relays this past weekend with his personal best jump of 24-feet, 9 ¾-inches. The mark is also ranked as the fifth-longest in McNeese track and field history. It's also the longest mark of the season in conference action.
Â
The 4x800-meter relay team, which was made up of runners
Oliver James,
Finlay Murray,
Brock Moreaux and
Bryson Skinner, clocked a 7:50.70 to win first place in the event.
Â
Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will be back in action on Saturday when they run at the Texas Southern Relays.
Â
McNeese's next home meet will be on April 11 when it hosts the SpringTime Classic.
