LAKE CHARLES – McNeese interim head soccer coach
Drew Fitzgerald has announced the signing of four student-athletes who will join the Cowgirl squad after turning in their National Letters of Intent on Tuesday.
Rebecca Adcock, Alexis Cowher, Rachel Palet and Alexis Rodriguez have all signed National Letter of Intent to study and play soccer at McNeese beginning in the fall of 2016. All four signees hail from the state of Texas
"Signing day is always fun as we get to officially welcome the new members of the Cowgirl Soccer team and brag on them a bit," said McNeese interim head coach
Drew Fitzgerald. "There is a lot to brag about in this class. This is one of the more technical classes that we've brought in and I think they are a very versatile group."
Rebecca Adcock – Defender – Bryan, Texas – Bryan HS Prepped at Bryan HS where she lettered all four seasons as a varsity starter… honored as All-District 18-5A first-team, district defensive MVP and team defensive MVP as a junior after scoring one goal and five assists… named team defensive MVP and second team all-district her sophomore season… scored a goal and one assist as a freshman… U18 team in United Soccer Club Champions League (Premier/SCL-Type League)… U18 Starter every game split mostly at Defensive Midfielder with the remainder at Center Defender…?U16 & U17 Starter every game at Center Defender… U17 State Cup team and Dallas International Cup semi-finalist team… U16 President's Cup state finalist… played all but about 30 minutes over the two years… played full-time with Challenge 98 and was also a member of the Challenge 99 ECNL roster... trained once per week and appeared in two showcase events… from 2011 to 2013, was a member of U14-U15, Challenge Aggieland 98… starter every game at Center Defender… played all but 10 minutes over two years… from 2008-2011, competed for U11-U13, Aggieland Soccer Club/Texans Aggieland… starter at Outside Defender for U12 & U13; Starter at Outside Midfielder for U11… daughter of Donna and Flynn Adcock… member of the International Baccalaureate Program and National Honors Society… is in Top 6 percent of class and All-A Honor Roll… plans to major in Art with a minor in Business.
Fitzgerald on Adcock: "Rebecca is a very versatile player that can play just about any defensive role on the field. She is athletic, incredibly tough in a tackle, and she is a very intelligent player. She will give us some flexibility with how we play."
Alexis Cowher – Forward – Buda, Texas – Jack C. Hays HS Four year letterwinner for Jack C. Hays HS where she has led her team to district championships in 2013 and 2014… scored 13 goals and 10 assists in 14 games as a junior and was named honorable mention all-district… helped her squad to a district title and a run to the second round of the playoffs as a sophomore where she scored 10 goals and six assists in 12 games… netted six goals and three assists as a freshman as she assisted her squad to a district championship and the second round of the state playoffs… member of the Lonestar 98G White South and was the leading scorer with 16 goals… attended Team First Soccer Academy with Mia Hamm, Tisha Venturini and Kristine Lilly and was chosen Camp MVP out of 45 competitors over three days… leading scorer for the Lonestar 98G White South in the Fall of 2013 with 12 goals and 10 assists in 17 games… selected team captain and scored 13 goals and eight assists that helped lead team to the Texas State Cup championship… her team attended the President's Cup Region III Championship tournament in Decatur, Alabama and finished third out of seven teams… scored 10 goals and six assists for the Lonestar 98G Black Premier in 2014-15… scored two goals in the Fall of 2015 before sitting out remainder of season due to illness… daughter of Dena Anderson… selected Academic All-District for three years of high school… plans to major in Exercise Science.
Fitzgerald on Cowher: " Alexis has all the tools to be a very successful striker in our system. She has both good pace, vision and is very technical. One of the things we like most about Alexis is that she is a soccer junkie. She just loves watching and learning about the game."
Rachel Palet – Midfield – Plano, Texas – Plano Senior HS Lettered for five seasons at Plano Senior High in soccer and basketball… helped the varsity squad reach the third round of the state playoffs and was honored with academic award… chosen for the Plano Bootcamp Award as a freshman… participated in club soccer for six years… spent the last three years as a member for the Solar Chelsea Elite and helped the club to second and fourth place finishes in the Texas League and qualified for the Champion League in 2014-15… Helped the Solar Chelsea Elite to the 2013-14 Lake Highland Division I Championship as well as the Premier West State Championship… Was a member of the Premier League Region III finalist team… in 2012-13, she helped guide the Liverpool Elite to the Lake Highland Division I title, state championship, and Premier West championship… Led the Liverpool Elite to the Lake Highland Division Champion and International Girls Club finals in 2011-12… daughter of James and Ingrid Palet… father lettered four years in soccer at Lewis University… plans to major in Health and Human Performance-Exercise Science.
Fitzgerald on Palet: "Rachel can play 10 positions on the field and excel at all of them. For her club, she has been featured from center back all the way up to center forward. She has a tremendous work ethic, a good feel for the game and we look for her to step into our program and make a difference right away."
Alexis Rodriguez – Outside Defender – Plano, Texas – Plano Senior HS Currently serving in her second season as team captain for the Plano HS varsity team… helped lead her squad to a seventh place finish in district and earned second team all-district honors… As a member of the junior varsity team, she completed her freshman and sophomore seasons after guiding her team to a first place district finish in two consecutive seasons…Member of 97 ECNL and Solar Chelsea 98 Elite from 2014 until now… 2014 Region III Finalist, North Texas State Cup Champion and Lake Highlands Girls Classic League Division I Grand Champion with the Solar Chelsea 98 Elite… member of the Liverpool Elite 98G and helped club to the 2013 Region III Finals and 2012 Region III Semi Finals… guided her team to the 2012 and 2013 North Texas State Cup championship… 2011, 2012, 2013 Lake Highlands Girls Classic League Division I Grand Championship… 2013 National League 4

Fitzgerald on Rodriguez: "Alexis is a very technical wide player. She can play any position up the flank and she is very comfortable on the ball. She is also a very tough defender; her footwork is great and she doesn't back down from a challenge. I envision Alexis allowing us to possess a little more as we attack out the back."
