LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese Cowboys will open the season on Saturday when it hosts Tarleton State at 6 p.m. in Cowboy Stadium.
One of the major changes for this season will be free admission to kids 12 years or younger with a paid adult ticket. However, a game ticket will still be required for kids to enter the game. Children tickets can be picked up at the ticket office any day during office hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) through Friday or beginning at noon on Saturday.
The adult picking up kids' tickets must show proof of an adult ticket that was already purchased if not purchasing at the same time of the visit.
Fans will also notice a few stadium upgrades including new handicap seating and stadium access ramps, new restroom fixtures, and stadium signage that features several of the greatest football players in McNeese history.
All fans must have a ticket for admission to Cowboy Stadium. Re-entry will be allowed but must present a valid ticket stub.
Gates to Cowboy Stadium will open at 4:30. Programs that will include game day rosters, special features, player photos, McNeese Athletics sponsors, etc. will be on sale for $5 at the Northeast and Northwest gates.
There will be no Cowboy Walk this year but The Parapokes are planned to soar into Cowboy Stadium prior to the 6 p.m. kickoff, weather permitting as well as the Mystery Rider making an appearance and of course, Touchdown Cannon firing away after every McNeese score.
At halftime, the Pride of McNeese Marching Band will perform a special song along with the Tarleton State band to commemorate Military Appreciation Day. Prior to that performance, the Cars For Cowboys drawing will be held on the field as three lucky winners will drive away with brand new vehicles. Tickets, which are just $20, will be available to purchase at the game.
