MEN'S RESULTS WOMEN'S RESULTS
COLLEGE STATION – McNeese's men's and women's cross country teams posted stellar performances at Saturday morning's Texas A&M Invitational at the Watts XC Course, the same course where the NCAA South Central Region will be run in late October.
Led by an overall fifth-place finish by
Nathan Jones in the 8,000-meter race, the Cowboys, ranked No. 12 in this week's USTFCCCA South Central Region Poll, had three runners place in the top 20 as the team finished with 110 points, second behind Texas A&M who posted a score of 62.
The 18-team field included other regionally ranked teams who the Cowboys beat out such as UT Arlington (ranked third and finished sixth), Lamar (ranked sixth and finished eighth), Rice (ranked seventh and finished third), Texas State (ranked eighth and finished fourth), North Texas (ranked ninth and finished 10
th), ULL (ranked 11
th and finished seventh), Houston (ranked 13
th and finished fifth), and Southeastern Louisiana (ranked 14
th and finished 11
th).
Jones posted a time of 24:15.0 for the fifth place finish. Teammate
Enrique Soto clocked a time of 24:22.7 to finish 12
th while
Brian Flanagan, the winner at last week's LSU Invite, placed 20
th at 24:41.8.

Rice followed the Cowboys in third place with 67 points while Texas State finished fourth with 76 points and Houston in fifth with 79 points to round out the top five teams.
On the women's side, Newcomer
Gladys Jerotich was the top Cowgirl runner to finish the 6,000-meter race with a seventh place mark and a time of 21:18.8.
Katja Woelfl was right behind with a time of 21:19.6 to finish eighth as the Cowgirls placed fifth as a team with 79 points in the 17-team field.
Texas A&M won the team title with 50 points followed by Lamar with 88, TCU 96, Rice 109, and McNeese.
Imogen Hull clocked a 22:16.4 to finish 32
nd while
Alissa Lander ran a 22:35.7 to place 47
th and giving the Cowgirls four runners to finish in the top 50.
Jessica Fox followed with a 23:07.3 and
Estela Pina 23:47.0 to round out McNeese's runners.
