Smith, who played for head coach and former NFL standout Patrick Surtain at AHHS, helped lead his team to a perfect 14-0 record in 2017 while winning a Florida State Championship in the process. His team finished ranked No. 4 in the nation according to MaxPreps and has won 27-consecutive games.

"This is a tremendous addition to our signing class," said Guidry. "We're very excited to have him join our McNeese Football family."

As a senior, Smith had his best game in the state quarterfinals when he completed 24 of 29 passes for 257 yards and five TD tosses in a 58-57 triple overtime shootout win over Cardinal Gibbons after AHHS blocked a Cardinal Gibbons PAT in the third OT to take the win.
