Junior pitcher Meagan Bond was named this week's Southland Conference and Louisiana “Pitcher of the Week”.
Bond helped McNeese to a 3-1 record at the Houston Hilton Invitational, including two victories against No. 17 Houston last week. The Lumberton, Miss. (Presbyterian Christian H.S.), native pitched a complete game in the first win against the Cougars, striking out four.
In the Cowgirls’ second win of the tournament, Bond threw a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win against Louisiana-Monroe. Bond struck out a career-high 12 and gave up only two hits against the Warhawks.
Bond made a relief appearance in the rematch against Houston, tossing three shutout innings and earning the win. For the tournament, Bond went 3-0 in 17.0 innings in the circle while striking out 19 batters and posting a 1.65 ERA.
