Former UL-Lafayette All-American Shellie Landry was promoted to Associate Head Coach in November (2022) after serving the past four years as assistant coach.
Landry, now in her fifth season on Landreneau's staff, will be more involved in the day-to-day operations as well as serving as the Cowgirls' recruiting coordinator. She is also is in charge of coaching the outfielders and assists with hitting.
The Cowgirls made its deepest run in the 2022 NCAA Tournament (Evanston, Ill.) where the Cowgirls advanced to the regional championship game for the first time in program history on its way to defeating Notre Dame twice. The Cowgirls fell to Northwestern who advanced to the Women's College World Series.
In 2021 the Cowgirls posted a .965 fielding percent and led the nation with 48 double plays turned. The Cowgirls also led the SLC with 78 doubles. Freshman catcher Chloe Gomez was named to the All-SLC third team
Prior to the 2020 season being canceled, the Cowgirls ranked second in the SLC with 15 home runs and had a .289 batting average with 183 hits, 37 doubles and 114 RBI.

The native of Broussard, Louisiana, Landry played for the Cajuns from 2013-2016 where she produced 50 hits, 50 RBI and double-digit home runs in three of her four seasons. She garnered numerous accolades including NFCA All-American honors in 2016. Landry was also a two-time NFCA All-Region selection, four-time All-Sun Belt and three-time All-Louisiana pick.Â

In the classroom, Landry has just as much success as on the field where she was named the UL-Lafayette Student-Athlete of the Year Silver Medalist in 2016 along with being named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List and Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Following her athletic career, Landry served as a graduate assistant and interim head coach at UL-Lafayette and most recently was a volunteer coach at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
