LAKE CHARLES – Following a two-game swing on the road, the McNeese women's soccer team returns home Friday night to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Southland Conference action at Cowgirl Field with the match set to begin at 7 p.m.
McNeese (3-6-1, 1-2 SLC) enters Friday's contest following a loss at Sam Houston State this past Sunday. The loss was a bitter one for the Cowgirls who surrendered four unanswered goals eventually giving up the 4-2 loss.
Sophomore sensation
Savannah LaRicci netted her team-high fourth goal of the season in the match against the Bearkats. LaRicci has also recorded an assist and 28 shots.
The Islanders (2-4-2, 1-2 SLC) picked up their first league victory of the year on Sunday following a 2-0 shutout over Central Arkansas. AMCC has lost its first two conference road matches this season.
Leading the Islander offense is Aulona Velaj with a goal and two assists as well as seven shots on the year. Six total AMCC players have logged a goal this season.
The meeting will be only the second between the two teams with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scoring a 1-0 double overtime over the Cowgirls in the inaugural match last season.
