Soccer Prepares for Road Game at Houston Baptist

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's soccer team will hit the road again in the Southland Conference as the Cowgirls travel to take on Houston Baptist on Sunday in a match slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The Cowgirls (4-6-1, 2-2 SLC) will look to put an end to their 14-game road winless streak that dates back to the 2012 season while the Huskies (2-6-3, 1-1-2 SLC) seek their first conference victory since a 1-0 overtime upset over Abilene Christian in late September.

Fans who are unable to attend Sunday's match can follow the action by clicking on the Live Stats link under the soccer schedule on McNeeseSports.com.

McNeese scored a huge victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday as freshman Sierra Sisco scored the game-winner in the 33rd minute. The Cowgirls shut out their fourth opponent on the season, the most through 11 games since 2011.

Five different Cowgirls have scored a goal this season while senior Tori Lasiter and sophomore Savannah LaRicci lead the team with two assists each. LaRicci leads in almost every offensive category with four goals, two assists and 31 shots this season.

Houston Baptist dropped an egg to league-leader Stephen F. Austin on Friday night as the Lumberjacks scored a 2-0 victory over the Huskies. HBU's home field performance has not been like in recent years as the Huskies have only one win on their own turf.

Kristi O'Brien leads the HBU offense with eight points on the season. O'Brien has scored four times on 13 shots and eight on-target. Three other Huskies have scored a goal this season including Rebekah Tovar who has a goal and two assists.

McNeese is 2-1-2 in the all-time series with Houston Baptist following a 3-0 Huskies victory in Lake Charles last season and a 1-1 double overtime tie in 2012.
