Volleyball Travels To Abilene Christian Thursday

LAKE CHARLES—The McNeese volleyball team will look to make a late season push in its final four regular season matches with hopes of securing a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament beginning this weekend with road matches at Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word.
 
McNeese (14-14, 4-8 SLC) enters Thursday's 7 p.m. match at Abilene Christian (4-22, 2-10 SLC) in ninth place behind eighth place Nicholls (9-16, 5-7 SLC). The SLC tournament field consists of eight teams.
 
Thursday's match will be the only meeting between the two teams this season. The Cowgirls will look to extend its winning streak to three matches after picking up two home wins last week over New Orleans and Southeastern La.
 
Carly DeMarque, who has given the Cowgirls a spark lately enters the weekend with a .410 hitting percent with 49 kills, eight errors in 100 attempts. Rachel Cagnina is hitting .276 with a team-high 259 kills and 58 blocks. Malina Sanchez continues to lead the team and the conference with 60 service aces. Sanchez also leads the team with 342 digs.
 
McNeese will conclude its weekend with a 2 p.m. match at Incarnate Word.  McNeese fell 3-1 to UIW in Lake Charles on Oct. 12.
