Box Score SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- McNeese volleyball dropped a heartbreaking five set Southland Conference match to Incarnate Word (19-25, 25-23, 25-27, 28-26, 11-15) Saturday afternoon.
The Cowgirls bounced back from a 25-19 first set loss to win the second set 25-23 to even the match at one set apiece. The third set went UIW's way and the Cowgirls dropped that set 27-25 but once again came back to even the match at two set apiece with a thrilling 28-26 fourth set win to send the match to a deciding fifth set.
The Cowgirls had their lowest hitting percent of the match at the wrong time with a .091 attack on five kills, three errors in 22 attempts in the 15-11 third set loss.
Senior
Rachel Cagnina led a trio of Cowgirls who ended the match with double figure kills with 17. Cagnina also had a team high .405 hitting percent.
Malina Sanchez ended the match with 13 kills and
Rebecca Korenek, who returned to the team after missing Thursday night's match due to a death in the family, ended the match with 12 kills.
Adison Giambrone picked up a match high 17 digs while
Kimberlyn Patterson was credited with 12 and Sanchez with 10.
McNeese will conclude the regular season with a Thursday match at New Orleans and a Saturday match at Nicholls.
