NATCHITOCHES—McNeese women's basketball ran into another hot shooting team Saturday in its 75-54 loss at league leading Northwestern State.

Talisa Boyd scored a career high 14 points and was the only McNeese player to score in double figures. The Cowgirls' top two scorers,
Allison Baggett and
Jayln Johnson were both held to seven points each.
Northwestern State, who entered the game with a 38.8 field goal shooting percent, ended the game shooting 45.5 percent, including 44.4 percent from behind the arc. The Lady Demons placed three players in double figures and was led by Chelsea Rogers' career-high 27 points. Janelle Perez, the Lady Demons' leading scorer ended the game with 14, snapping her four game streak of scoring 20 or more points. Presley Owens ended the double figure scoring with 12 points.
As a team, the Cowgirls ended the game shooting 29.1 percent from the field on 16 of 55 and only 13.6 percent from three-point range (3 of 22).
McNeese couldn't get into a rhythm in the second half and started the half missing their first three shots. NW State took advantage of the Cowgirl misses and took a 20-point lead with 12:14 left to play. A 6-0 Cowgirl run cut the lead to 14 points but NW State kept its foot on the pedal and went on another run, taking its largest lead of 24 (74-50) with 1:30 to play.
McNeese started the game by scoring the first six points lead on back to back three-pointers by
Allison Baggett and
Amber Donnes. McNeese held onto the lead until Northwestern State went on the first of a couple of runs in the half. The first was an 8-0 run on four points by both Presley Owens and Sami Thomas to give the Lady Demons their first lead.
McNeese stay within single digits until the Lady Demons would end the half on a 11-3 run to take a 39-27 halftime lead.
NW State produced a 53.8 shooting percent from the field while the Cowgirls manages to shoot only 27.6 percent.
