Cowgirls Return Home Saturday To Host UNO

LAKE CHARLES—After playing their last four games on the road, the McNeese women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Burton Coliseum Saturday to host New Orleans in a 4 p.m. Southland Conference game.
 
Prior to the game, Allison Baggett and head coach Brooks Donald Williams will be recognized for recent accomplishments. Baggett for reaching 1,000 career points, and Williams for becoming the all-time winningest coach.
 
Also, all McNeese Kids Club and Rowdy's Readers members will be admitted to the game free.  All kids attending the game are invited to join the Cowgirls on the court for the National Anthem and the softball and baseball teams will be on hand to sign autographs.
 
McNeese (11-8, 5-3 SLC) is coming off a dominating 78-57 road win at Southeastern La. Thursday that completed a four game road swing.  McNeese produced a 3-1 record during that road swing with its only loss coming at the hands of league leading Northwestern State last Saturday. The Cowgirls have an 8-2 home record with their only losses coming against Tulane and Abilene Christian.
 
Baggett continues to lead the Cowgirls in scoring and ranks fourth in the SLC with 16.7 ppg. She is coming off a game-high 21 points against Southeastern La. Baggett and also leads the team and ranks second in the SLC with an 86.4 free throw percent.
 
Jayln Johnson is also averaging in double figures with 12.3 ppg and is tied for second in the SLC with 4.7 assists per game. Johnson scored 13 points and dished out seven assists at Southeastern La. She is averaging 14.1 ppg. in conference games only.
 
Amber Donnes is averaging 10.5 ppg. in conference games only and leads McNeese with a 36.0 three-point field goal percent.  Donnes connected on 4 of 7 from behind the arc in the win over Southeastern La.
 
Talisa Boyd is averaging a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game and 7.8 rpg. in conference games only.  Boyd leads the team with a 50.0 field goal shooting percent.
 
New Orleans (2-15, 0-8 SLC) is still searching for its first conference win.  The Privateers enter the game on an eight game winning streak. UNO's wins came against Crowley's Ridge and Kent State.
 
Randi Brown is the leading scorer with 7.6 ppg. while Yasmin Taylor leads UNO with 6.9 rpg.
