The overtime match was the third consecutive for McNeese since opening conference play.
McNeese head coach
Scooter Savoie was impressed with the style of play that the Cowgirls provided Friday night as they created 17 shooting opportunities while the defensive side was led by senior goalkeeper
Maggie Marks who turned in 11 saves on the night.
Stephen F. Austin (4-6-1, 3-0-1 SLC) held off a scrappy Lamar team in Beaumont Friday night and took a 1-0 decision over the Cardinals to improve its league record. The Ladyjacks enter Sunday's match having won three games and tying another out of the last five games after finishing up one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation.
Amanda Doyle leads the way for the SFA offense this season with five goals and two assists while Rachel Owens is second on the team with two goals. Doyle is first on the team with 12 shots on goal while Hanna Barker leads with 28 total shots.

Sunday's match marks the 32nd all-time meeting between McNeese and Stephen F. Austin, with the Ladyjacks leading the series 22-6-3. The Cowgirls took SFA down to the wire in last season's meeting before bowing out in double overtime. McNeese's last victory against Stephen F. Austin came back in 2007 when the Cowgirls won 1-0 in Lake Charles.
McNeese will take to the road next weekend when it faces Nicholls in Thibodaux before taking a day off on Sunday to get ready for their homestand against Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian in two weeks.
