LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese volleyball will look to rebound from its first home loss of the season in a five set match to Southeastern La. on Tuesday when the Cowgirls host Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Memorial Gym. Big Daddy's Sports Grill is scheduled to hold a pregame tailgate in front of Memorial Gym.
McNeese (5-13, 2-3 SLC) currently ranks eighth in the league standings and have had three of its last four match go the full five sets.
Seniors
Malina Sanchez and
Kelly Graham continue to lead the Cowgirls in respective categories. Sanchez leads the team with 187 kills and is second on the team with 169 digs. Sanchez is coming off a match where she recorded a career-high 24 kills and a season high 17 digs against Southeastern La. Graham continues to add to her assists and will enter the match with 2,812 career assists. She leads McNeese with 632 on the season for an average of 8.90 per set. Graham also has a team high 16 service aces.
Junior
Bridget Justis is providing solid defense in the back line while leading the Cowgirls with 264 digs.
Freshman
Monica Hudgins is making her presence known at the net as she leads the team with 61 blocks. Hudgins is coming off a season-high nine blocks against SE La.
Central Arkansas (9-9, 5-1) is currently third in the league behind Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin who are both undefeated in league play at 4-0.
The Sugar Bears enter the match as the second best blocking team, averaging 2.17 per set and in service aces with 114 on the season.
Heather Schnars leads the conference in kills with 268 for an average of 4.06 per set and service aces with 49. She also leads her team with 159 digs. Amy South leads the team with 604 assists and Samantha Anderson has a team high 45 blocks.
