LAKE CHARLES—The McNeese women's basketball team, riding a four game winning streak, will host Louisiana College in its third straight home game in the last week at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Burton Coliseum.
McNeese (4-1) is coming off a 97-61win over Southern (New Orleans) on Sunday that saw the Cowgirls extend their winning streak to four games. The Cowgirls placed three players in double figure scoring with senior
Allison Baggett leading the way with 18 points. Sophomores
Mercedes Rogers and
Jasmyn Carswell both scored career highs with 17 and 13, respectively. Carswell also tied her career high with nine rebounds after picking up her career high a game earlier against Rice. Junior
Hannah Cupit also dished out a career high six assists.
Baggett and fellow senior
Jayln Johnson are the only two players averaging in double digits. Baggett is averaging 13.8 ppg. while Johnson is chipping in 10.6 ppg. Sophomore
Frederica Haywood continues to lead the team in rebounds with 8.6 per game while
Amber Donnes has a 53.3 three-point field goal percent.
Cupit and Johnson are currently two of the top guards in the nation in assists/turnover ration. Cupit leads the SLC and ranks 10
th in the nation with a 4.00 ratio while Johnson is second in the SLC and 14
th in the nation with a 3.67 ration. As a team, the Cowgirls rank first in the SLC in that category and 19
th in the nation with a 1.31 assists/turnover ratio.
Louisiana College (0-2) is coming off a 71-60 loss to St. Thomas (Texas) on Saturday and a 68-60 loss at Southwestern (Texas) on Sunday. The Wildcats are led in scoring by freshman guard RyDeja McQuam's 19.0 ppg. Sophomore Kourtney McGhee is averaging 10.0 ppg. and sophomore Brooke Jones leads the team with 7.0 rpg.
