Volleyball Hosts Incarnate Word Saturday

LAKE CHARLES- The McNeese volleyball team will look to bounce back from a hard fought Southland loss to Abilene Christian Thursday night when the Cowgirls will host Incarnate Word at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gym.
 
With the regular season winding down, McNeese (11-7, 6-7 SLC), enters Saturday's match in a three-way tie for fifth place with New Orleans and Sam Houston State. The Cowgirls will host UNO next Tuesday, Nov. 10.
 
Incarnate Word, who is ineligible for postseason play comes to Lake Charles with a 7-15 overall record and 5-8 in the SLC. The Cardinals defeated the Cowgirls in five sets last Wednesday in San Antonio.
 
Senior outside hitter Malina Sanchez, who moved into ninth place on McNeese's all-time service ace list on Thursday, leads the Cowgirls and ranks ninth in the SLC with 336 kills. She is also second on the team with 284 digs. Setter Kelly Graham and Bridget Justis both lead the team with 22 service aces. Graham has dished out 1,012 assists, which ranks her seventh in the SLC. Justis has picked up 471 digs, which ranks her fourth in the league.
 
Incarnate Word is on a two-match losing streak after fall 3-2 at Nicholls Thursday. The Cardinals are second in the SLC in kills (1,076), and assists (1,001). Autumn Lockley leads the team and ranks eighth in kills with 264. Taylor McClelland ranks fifth in the SLC in service aces with 31.
