WACO, Texas— The McNeese women's basketball team never lost composure and kept a positive attitude in a 105-46 loss at no. 4 Baylor on Sunday, despite only shooting two free throws the entire game. 
"It's obviously a tough environment to play in but I'm pleased how we played," said head coach Brooks Donald Williams. "Hats off to Baylor, they're a Top 5 team in the country for a reason. They have all the pieces to the puzzle." 
Amber Donnes led McNeese with a season high 18 points. Donnes was 7 of 14 from the field including 4 of 10 from three-point range. 
Frederica Haywood ended the game by tying her season high of 10 rebounds. The only free throws for the Cowgirls were taken by 
Haily Jenkins in the second quarter. Baylor ended the game making 14 of 27 from the free throw line and shot 60.6 percent from he field. Baylor had five players scoring in double figures and were led by Kalani Brown's 24 points. Niya Johnson dished out a Baylor single game record 19 assists and contributed with 10 rebounds. 
"I'm mostly proud of our composure and attitude throughout the game no matter what calls we did or didn't get. Unfortunately, we had to create our own opportunities against a really good team, said Williams" 
The Cowgirls hung with Baylor in the opening minutes of the game with the scored tied at four apiece. Baylor then came out in its full court press to disrupt the Cowgirls and scored the next four points to take an 8-4 lead. 
Allison Baggett's three- pointer brought the Cowgirls to within one point, the closest the Cowgirls would get. Baylor went on a 5-0 run to take a 13-7 lead and held a 21-10 first quarter lead. 
Baylor led by as many at 20 points in the second quarter before 
Victoria Rachal and Donnes hit back-to-back treys to bring McNeese to within 17 points (41-24) with 1:12 left in the quarter. Baylor held a 45-24 halftime lead. 
The much taller Lady Bears held a 29-19 rebound edge over McNeese and the Cowgirls were called for 15 personal fouls in the first two quarters. Cowgirl starters 
Jayln Johnson, Baggett and 
Jasmyn Carswell spent most of the first two quarters on the bench with three fouls apiece. Carswell and Johnson eventually fouled out and Baggett ended the game with four fouls. Baylor was tagged for only 11 fouls while the Cowgirls were called for 26.   
Baylor increased their lead to 77-34 by outscoring the Cowgirls 32-10 in the third quarter. Baylor pounded the ball inside to their post most of the game where 70 of their points came from and 50 points came from their bench. 
McNeese will return home Wednesday, Dec. 16 to host Louisiana-Monroe at 5:30 p.m. in the first of a doubleheader with the Cowboys.
