NEW ORLEANS- A third quarter comeback wasn't enough as the McNeese women's basketball team fell 74-55 to Tulane Sunday.
Â
Senior
Allison Baggett led the Cowgirls in scoring with 17 points, all coming in the second half. Baggett's first points came with 7:20 left in the third quarter. Sophomore

Â
It wasn't the best shooting night for the Cowgirls as they ended the game shooting 31.7 percent from the field and 19.2 percent from three-point range. On the other hand, Tulane shot their best from both the field (54.2%) and from 3-point range (50.0%).
Â
The Cowgirl got off to a cold start, missing their first four shots while Tulane made their first four to take an early 7-0 lead. The Cowgirls continued to struggle from the field and they trailed 12-2 at the first media timeout. At that point the Cowgirls were 1 of 7 from the field including 0 of 5 from three-pot range. McNeese trailed 39-22 at the half.
Â
The Green Wave got off to another 7-0 start but the Cowgirls made a run late in the quarter to cut the lead to 13 following an 11-0 run. McNeese outscored Tulane 19-16 in the quarter.
Â
McNeese got as close at 12 points twice in the fourth quarter on a layup by
Jasmyn Carswell and a baseline jumper by Cynthia Rivas with 7:08 left to play. That was the closest the Cowgirls would get.
Â
Tulane placed three players in double figures with Morgan Kolby scoring a game high 19. Duru Chinwe and Emery Taylor both scored 10.
Â
McNeese will return home on Wednesday, Dec. 9 to host Loyola (N.O.) in a 7 p.m. game. Fans are asked to bring a new toy for the Toys for Tots campaign. Santa will also be on hand for photos.
