LAKE CHARLES-McNeese women's basketball will look to build on its 66-62 win over Southeastern La. on Thursday when the Cowgirls welcome Northwestern State to Burton Coliseum for a 1 p.m. Southland Conference game. The game will serve as the annual Play4Kay and dessert-off game. Serving as guest coaches will be Ethel Precht, founder of the Ethel Precht Foundation and Hope Snider, Christian World co-Pastor.

McNeese (13-10, 7-5 SLC) snapped a two game losing streak with the win over Southeastern La. behind freshman
Frederica Haywood's career high 20 rebounds. The Cowgirls will look to avenge a 75-54 loss at Northwestern State (13-10, 8-4 SLC) on Jan. 24.

Allison Baggett and
Jayln Johnson are the only two double figure scorers for the Cowgirls. Baggett enters the game averaging 16.3 ppg. and is coming off a 14-point game against the Lady Lions. Johnson is averaging 13.0 ppg. and is also coming off a 14-point game. Johnson is second in the league in assists with 5.0 per game.

The Cowgirls dominated the glass against Southeastern (59-39) and besides Haywood's 20 rebounds,
Talisa Boyd ended the game with 10. Boyd leads the team with 6.9 rpg. and a 49.2 field goal percent. Haywood is second on the team with 6.1.

Northwestern State is coming off a 54-52 home win over Central Arkansas that snapped a three game losing streak. The Lady Demons also have two players averaging in double figures with Janelle Perez lead the team with 13.5 ppg. Keisha Lee is averaging 11.0 ppg.. TaSheena Moore and Chelsea Rogers NW State with 6.0 rpg.

"Play4Kay" is an opportunity for college basketball coaches to raise breast cancer awareness, funds for research and to honor individuals who have breast cancer or who are survivors of the disease. Any donations taken at the game will go directly to the Precht Foundation. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to show their support.

Businesses or individuals that enter the dessert-off contest will provide their best desserts and the judges are encouraged to tip their favorites. The dessert with the most tip money will be the Cowgirl Dessert-Off Grand Champion. A runner-up and best in show will also be awarded. For only $5 (cash only) anyone can be a judge and try as many desserts as they can handle. The winners will be announced during the first timeout of the men's game.
