Jambalaya Cook-off Application

LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will close out the regular season at home beginning with a Thursday game against Lamar. Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
 
McNeese (15-11, 9-6 SLC) is tied for fourth place in the league standings with Northwestern State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Lamar (15-11, 12-3 SLC) is in second place behind league leader Stephen F. Austin.
 
The Cowgirls will look to get back into the win column after a 75-67 loss at Lamar just five days ago in Beaumont snapped their three game winning streak.
 
Lamar leads the all-time series 39-28 and the Cardinals have won the last two meetings.  McNeese's last win over Lamar came during the 2012-13 season with a 65-46 win in Beaumont.
 
Allison Baggett continues to lead the Cowgirls and ranks third in the Southland Conference in scoring with 16.8 ppg. She leads the SLC with an 87.5 free throw percent. Baggett is coming off a 24-point game against the Cardinals last Saturday.
 
Jayln Johnson leads McNeese and is ranked second in the conference with 5.4 assists per game.  She is the only other Cowgirl averaging in double figures with 12.9 ppg.
 
Talisa Boyd continues to lead McNeese in rebounds with 7.4 per game. Boyd grabbed 12 rebounds against Lamar in Beaumont and is second on the team with a 47.4 field goal percent.
 
Lamar also has two players averaging in double figures with JaMeisha Edwards averaging 15.8 ppg. and Dominique Edwards averaging 12.2 ppg.
 
McNeese will host Nicholls on Saturday at 12:15 p.m. with that game being televised on ESPN3. The game is also the Cowgirls' annual Jambalaya Cook-off.
 
The competition will begin at 11:15 a.m. and the winners will be determined by tip jar voting. The winners will be announced at the first media timeout in the first half of the men's game.
 
Cooking team entry fee is $200 per team. All proceeds will benefit the McNeese Women's Basketball program.
