Cowgirls Make Return Trip To New Orleans Thursday

LAKE CHARLES—After picking up a commanding 82-58 home win over New Orleans last Saturday, the McNeese women's basketball team will head to New Orleans Thursday to face the Privateers for the second time in the last five days. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

McNeese (12-8, 6-3 SLC) will remain on the road and will travel to Nicholls on Saturday. For McNeese, the road games will be their fifth and sixth in their last seven.
 
Heading into the weekend, McNeese is tied for fourth place with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Nicholls. All three teams are one and a half games out of first place Lamar who is 8-2 in SLC play.
 
The Cowgirls are coming off a game that saw four players score in double figures. Allison Baggett, who was named the Southland's Player of the Week and Louisiana's co-Player of the week, led all players with 25 points including a career-high seven 3-pointers. Baggett leads the Cowgirls and ranks third in the league in scoring with 17.2 points per game. Baggett also leads the team with an 87.0 free throw percent.
 
Junior guard Jayln Johnson is second on the team with 12.3 ppg. and is second in the SLC with 4.9 assists per game. Johnson dished out eight assists against UNO last week.
 
Sophomore Amber Donnes, who has given the Cowgirls an added outside scoring threat this season, lead the team with a 37.5 three-point field goal percent. She is third on the team in scoring with 7.8 ppg.
 
Senior Talisa Boyd is coming off her third double-double (12 pts., 11 reb.) in the last four games. Boyd leads the Cowgirls with 6.8 rpg. and has a team high 50.5 field goal shooting percent. Boyd is fourth on the team in scoring with 6.4 ppg.
 
New Orleans is still searching for their first conference win and will enter the game with a 2-16 overall record and a 0-9 conference record.
