Cowboys ink Tevin Jackson out of Jacksonville (TX) College

LAKE CHARLES – McNeese Cowboys basketball coach Dave Simmons has added a second signee to his class with the inking of 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward transfer Tevin Jackson from Jacksonville (TX) College.

Jackson, a native of Perth, Australia, is a very athletic and versatile player who played every position from point guard to center at Jacksonville.

"He's a great pick up for us," said Simmons. "His size, versatility and experience will be much needed after the departure of Kevin Hardy."

"He will be a very good player for McNeese," said Jacksonville College head coach Jody Bailey. "Jacksonville College is better because of Tevin Jackson, not just for what he did on the court, but for his character and attitude as well. We are thrilled that he signed with McNeese."

Jackson played in a rotating system much like the style Northwestern State runs as the minutes were spread around among 15 players.

He averaged six points and three rebounds last season but his athleticism, size, and understanding of the game is what attracted McNeese to him.

"We are intrigued about his skill set," said Simmons. "He can do a lot of things on the court. His stats will go up because of minutes but his experience and size was a big factor.

Last month McNeese signed guard Jarren Greenwood out of Bellaire High School in Houston.

Simmons said he expects to sign one more player this offseason.
