LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese State women's soccer team will conclude a Southland Conference weekend road trip with a in-state rivalry showdown against Northwestern State at the Lady Demon Soccer Complex in Natchitoches at 1 p.m.

The Cowgirls (3-5, 0-2 SLC) are looking to snap a five-game losing skid after dropping a heartbreaker at Central Arkansas, 2-1, in double overtime Friday night. However, McNeese has come away with some big wins on the road this season having defeated ULM and Texas State on their home turf earlier this year.

Kayla Goedicke punched in the Cowgirls' lone goal of the contest Friday night while sophomore forward
Gabi D'Alesandro was credited with her second assist on the season. Goedicke's goal also helped McNeese snap a four game skid without a goal.
Northwestern State (3-5-2, 0-1-1 SLC) is coming off of a 3-1 loss to the hands of Lamar Friday night just one week after tying league powerhouse Stephen F. Austin, 1-1. The Lady Demons possess a 2-1 mark at home and have outscored their opponents 15-4. NSU is 1-3-1 in its last five contests.
Kayleigh Phillips has scored nine points for the Lady Demons this season and leads the squad with four goals. Cassandra Briscoe leads the team with three assists while two other players have two assists on the year.
Sunday's match marks the 27
th all-time meeting between McNeese and Northwestern State, with the Lady Demons leading the series 12-9-5. The Cowgirls took last year's meeting in Lake Charles with a 2-1 victory over NSU.
McNeese will return home next weekend for a pair of SLC matchups at Cowgirl Field beginning with Sam Houston State on Friday, Oct. 2 and will follow up with Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, Oct. 4.
