Cowgirls Conclude Four Game Home Stand Against Southeastern la.

LAKE CHARLES—The McNeese women's basketball team will conclude its four game home stand Wednesday in a 7 p.m. Southland Conference tilt against Southeastern La. The Cowgirls' next home game will be next Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. against UNO. This game will be played at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
 
McNeese (12-7, 4-3 SLC) is coming off a 78-74 overtime victory over Northwestern State Saturday that improved the Cowgirls' home record to 8-1 on the season. McNeese has won four of its last six games including three of four at home. McNeese has won the last three meetings against Southeastern La.
 
The Cowgirls are coming off one of their second best shooting nights of the season from three-point range. McNeese connected on 10 of its 22 attempts against the Lady Demons and got four treys from reserve guard Victoria Rachal. Rachal came off the bench to score a season high 17 points, with 11 coming in the second half.
 
Seniors Jayln Johnson and Allison Baggett continue to lead McNeese in scoring with 14.0 and 13.1 ppg., respectively. Johnson also leads the team in free throw percent (91.5), assists (4.9), and steals (1.5). Johnson is averaging a league best 5.9 assists in conference game only. Baggett is coming off a 15-point game, making that her 14th game this season having scored in double figures.
 
Sophomore Frederica Haywood continues to give the Cowgirls solid rebounding. She leads McNeese in rebounds with 8.4 per game and ranks second in the SLC with 11.4 in conference games only.
 
Junior Amber Donnes and sophomore Jasmyn Carswell has given the Cowgirls and added threat on offense. Donnes is second on the team with a 38.3 three-point field goal percent and is third in scoring with 9.7 ppg. Carswell has a team high 57.8 field goal percent, is fourth in scoring (6.0) and second in rebounding (6.2).
 
Southeastern La. (3-14, 2-4 SLC) has lost their last two games by a combined six points. The Lady Lions fell 70-66 to Incarnate Word on Jan. 16. before the Cardinals handed the Cowgirls their first home loss of the season on Jan. 20. Most recently, SE La. dropped a road game at Texas A&M-CC last Saturday by a 69-67 score.
 
The Lady Lions have three players averaging in double figures and are led by Taylin Underwood's 14.7 ppg. Nanna Pool is averaging 13.8 ppg. and leads the team with 8.1 rgp. KaeLynn Boyd is averaging 13.2 ppg.
