LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's soccer team looks to score its second consecutive Southland Conference victory Sunday afternoon as the Cowgirls make their way over to Nacogdoches for a showdown with league leader Stephen F. Austin with kickoff slated for a 1 o'clock start on ESPN3.

McNeese (5-6, 1-3 SLC) picked up a huge road win over Sam Houston State Friday evening where they defeated the Bearkats, 1-0. It was the first time a Cowgirl soccer squad had scored a win against Sam Houston State since the 2007 season.

Annie Bravenec, who made some huge saves in Friday's match, picked up her second clean sheet on the year and improved to a 1.89 goals against average.
Stephen F. Austin (7-2, 4-0 SLC) staved off a hungry Lamar team in front of a home crowd Friday night and took a 1-0 decision over the Cardinals to remain undefeated in league play. The Ladyjacks, winners of seven in a row, look to extend their undefeated conference mark to five consecutive matches. SFA has also won seven matches in a row at home dating back to last season.
Hanna Barker leads the scoring effort for SFA this season with six goals and six assists while Amanda Doyle follows with three goals and two assists. In total, nine Ladyjacks have found the back of the net in 2016. Goalkeeper Lillie Ehlert owns a 7-1 record on the year with 36 saves and a 1.02 goals against average.
Sunday's match marks the 34th all-time meeting between McNeese and Stephen F. Austin, with the Ladyjacks leading the series 24-6-3. SFA scored a 2-1 victory in overtime over the Cowgirls last season in Lake Charles. McNeese's last victory against Stephen F. Austin came back in 2007 when the Cowgirls won 1-0 in Lake Charles.
