HUNTSVILLE, Texas-- McNeese volleyball put up a valiant effort in its 3-1 (30-32, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25) loss to Sam Houston State here Saturday in a Southland Conference match.
McNeese (4-15, 0-4 SLC) was attempting to come away with its first conference victory but couldn't overcome a .031 hitting percent in the fourth set as the BearKats (8-9, 2-2 SLC) came away with the win.
Junior
Rae Myers led McNeese with a 16 kills and was joined in double figures kills by
Keegan Nelms who picked up 12. As a team, the Cowgirls totaled 20 blocks and was led by
Jenny D'Alessandro's six. Setter
Alexandra Aguilera led with 42 assists and picked up five blocks on the day. For the second match of the week,
Bridget Justis led the Cowgirls with 27 digs.
Sam Houston State was led in kills by Jordyn Vaughn's 20 kills. Four BearKats recorded double figure digs and were led by Addison Millers 25. Vaughn completed a double double with 21 digs.
The Cowgirls will travel to New Orleans next Tuesday to face UNO before retuning home Thursday and Saturday to host Abilene Christian and Nicholls in Southland Conference matches.
