LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's soccer team will get back to work over the weekend after enjoying a few days of rest when the Cowgirls travel to San Antonio for a Southland Conference matchup against Incarnate Word Friday ay 7 p.m.

McNeese (6-7, 2-4 SLC) enters the weekend after having posted a convincing 4-0 victory over league foe Nicholls last Friday. The Cowgirls are winners of two out of their last three matches, one of those being on the road against Sam Houston State.
McNeese received goals from four different players in the game vs. Nicholls, including sophomore
Nola Prickett, who made her return for the first time in eight games. Prickett scored her third goal of the season in the game while team offensive leader
Savannah LaRicci recorded her seventh goal of the year.
The shutout over Nicholls was the first time since 2014 that a McNeese squad had posted two or more blank sheets in league play. Cowgirl goalkeeper
Annie Bravenec picked up her fourth win and now has 41 saves on the season.
Incarnate Word (3-8-1, 2-4 SLC) lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 2-1, last Friday and have dropped their last three matches to conference teams. The Cardinals have SLC wins against Southeastern Louisiana and Nicholls this season.
Sam Batley and Brooke Hanson each have scored a team-high six points for UIW this season while eight different Cardinals have netted a goal. Defensively, Incarnate Word has posted three shutouts and have held opponents to one goal or less in seven of 12 games this season.
Sydney Huntsinger and Haley Nelson have split playing time in the net this season for UIW while Nelson owns a 2-2 record and has made 27 saves.
McNeese is 1-1-1 in the all-time series with UIW following a 1-0 Cowgirl victory in Lake Charles last season. McNeese has never defeated the Cardinals in San Antonio.
Following Friday's match, the Cowgirls will continue the road trip over to Abilene Christian where they will face off against the Wildcats Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
