LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese volleyball returns home Saturday for what will be the first of five home matches this month when the Cowgirls take on Nicholls at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Gym. Admission is free courtesy of the Lake Charles American Press.
McNeese (6-15, 2-4 SLC) is riding a two match-winning streak after picking up victories over New Orleans and Abilene Christian on Oct. 4
th and 6
th. The Cowgirls will play five of its six matches this month in Lake Charles, which will also conclude its home schedule.
Keegan Nelms continues to lead the Cowgirls in kills with 192 for an average of 2.34 per set.
Jenny D'Alessandro and
Katelyn Elliott both have 160 kills to their credit with D'Alessandro averaging 2.12 per set and Elliott averaging 2.98 per set. D'Alessandro also leads the team with 50 blocks on the season.
The Cowgirl defense is led by senior libero
Bridget Justis who has a team high 357 digs for an average of 4.35 per set. Setter
Alexandra Aguilera continues to be consistent as she leads the team with 790 assists for an average of 9.63 per set.
Nicholls (5-17, 0-6 SLC) will look to snap a two match-losing streak after falling to Abilene Christian and most recently to Southeastern La. on Oct. 11. The Colonels have lost 13 of their last 14 matches.
