NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The McNeese women's soccer team closed out its weekend with a 2-0 loss to league leader Stephen F. Austin, Sunday afternoon in Nacogdoches.
With the loss, the Cowgirls move to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in Southland Conference play while Stephen F. Austin improved to 8-2 on the year and 4-0 in league action.
The Ladyjacks broke through early in the first half and held that lead to head into the locker room with a 1-0 lead. Hannah Barker dribbled the ball around the defenders and landed a shot into the right corner of the net to post her seventh goal of the season.
SFA tacked on an insurance goal in the 65
th minute when Breanna Moore fired off a pass made by Bailey Bosley that slid past the goalkeeper.
The Jacks outshot McNeese, 11-6, with Barker leading the way with a game-high three shots. Junior
Sara Ortiz paced the Cowgirls with two shots on the day while
Morgan Middleton and
Dayna Garcia each recorded on goal attempts.

Annie Bravenec made five saves in the match while SFA's Lillie Ehlert made two saves.
McNeese returns to Cowgirl Field for a Friday night league contest against Nicholls at 7 PM. Following the contest, the Cowgirls will rest on Sunday before continuing SLC play on the road.
