LAKE CHARLES – It is down to the nitty gritty, per se, as the McNeese women's soccer squad looks to position itself for a ticket to the 2016 Southland Conference Tournament when the Cowgirls host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Senior Day on Sunday at 1 p.m.

McNeese (8-8, 4-5 SLC) scored an emotional overtime victory over Houston Baptist Friday evening as junior
Savannah LaRicci netted the game-winner just five minutes into the extra period. The win jumped the Cowgirls into fourth place in the Southland Conference standings with two matches left in the regular season. The top six teams earn an appearance into the postseason tournament.
LaRicci's goal was a team-best eighth on the season and also ranks as the third highest goal total in the league. Her 21 points (eight goals and five assists) is the fourth highest total in the Southland Conference.
McNeese ranks second in the league with 85 points and fourth with 28 goals scored on the year.
A&M-Corpus Christi (3-13, 3-6 SLC) struggled early in league action but has rattled off three wins in its last four matches. The Islanders took a 2-1 decision over Lamar Friday night that helped them gain a spot in the league standings.
Yvette Franco leads the Islanders with 10 points (four goals and two assists) this season and has provided two game-winning goals. Four total AMCC players have netted two or more goals on the year. Jordan Wainwright has started a majority of the team's matches in the net and has 65 saves on the year.
AMCC ranks eleventh in the conference with 26 points and ninth with 10 goals.
