ABILENE, Texas – The McNeese volleyball team dropped its regular season finale on the road Saturday against Abilene Christian in straight sets [19-25, 22-25, 24-26]. Even with the loss, the Cowgirls earned a spot in next week's Southland Conference Tournament in Conway, Arkansas.
McNeese [10-21, 6-10 SLC] earned the No. 8 seed and will face regular season champions and No. 1 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. This is the Cowgirls' second straight tournament appearance in head coach
Ashleigh Fitzgerald's third season at the helm of the program.

Rebecca Korenek and junior
Jenny D'Alessandro led the team with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. D'Alessandro also led the team in blocks with three, tied with
Alexandra Aguilera.
McNeese senior libero
Bridget Justis picked up 19 digs to lead the team, while
Angela McGownd had 7. Aguilera was just shy of her 16
th double double of the year, when she recorded 33 assists and 9 digs.
McNeese fought hard falling in the last two sets by no more than three points in each set. In the final set the score was tied eight times and had five lead changes, before the Wildcats picked up the 26-24 third set win and the overall match.
Abilene Christian is ineligible for postseason play and finishes their season 12-19 and 11-5 in SLC. Jacey Smith led the wildcats with 10 kills, while Dorothy Swanson was close behind with 9.
