LAKE CHARLES-- The McNeese women's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak when they will host LSU-Alexandria here Sunday afternoon in the final game of its five game home stand. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
McNeese (3-1) is coming off a 72-56 win over Wiley College last Tuesday that saw junior
Mercedes Rogers lead the Cowgirls with her second straight double-double by scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Rogers is also averaging a double double (12.8 ppg., 10.3 rpg.).
Senior
Victoria Rachal continues to lead McNeese in scoring with 16.8 ppg. and is coming off a 12-point game against Wiley College. Rachal has made a team high 11 three-pointers.
Junior
Frederica Haywood continues to be the rebound leader, averaging 11.5 rpg. Haywood ranks 5
th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game, pulling down six per contest. Haywood has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in every game this season including a season high 13 against Wiley College.
As a team, the Cowgirls are averaging 81.0 ppg. and 53.3 rpg. and are shooting 40.2 percent from the field including 38.4 percent from three-point range.
LSU-Alexandria (1-1) has played four other games that have served as exhibition game for the Generals. They have played UL-Lafayette, NW State, UL-Monroe and most recently Louisiana Tech. The game against McNeese will also be an exhibition game for LSU-Alexandria.
The Generals picked up an 84-78 win over Louisiana College on Nov. 10 then dropped a 90-65 game to Dillard.
In two games, LSU-A has four players averaging in double figures. Bianca Harvey leads the team with 15.5 ppg. Katie Lemieux is averaging 14.0 ppg. and leads the team with 9.0 rpg. Luv Blackburn is averaging 10.5 ppg. and Lillie Snowden is averaging 10.0 ppg.
