LAKE CHARLES—McNeese women's basketball will be making its only home appearance in the month of December in a 2 p.m. game Sunday afternoon against Louisiana Tech at Burton Coliseum. Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Toys 4 Tots campaign. Free Pizza will be available for McNeese students.
McNeese (4-2) is 4-1 at home this season and is coming off an 82-65 loss at Tulane on Wednesday in its first road game of the season. The Cowgirls will enter the game leading the nation in rebounds with 50.83 per contest and 21.0 offensive rebounds. McNeese ranks seventh in the nation with 30.0 defensive rebounds per game.
Junior
Frederica Haywood ranks 13
th in the nation with 5.0 offensive rebounds per game. Haywood leads the Cowgirls with 10.0 rpg. and is coming off her first double double of the season against Tulane (10 pts., 11 reb.).
Senior
Victoria Rachal and junior
Mercedes Rogers are both averaging in double figures with 14.4 ppg., and 10.0 ppg., respectively. Rachal also leads the team with a 46.2 three-point field goal percent and is tied for second on the team with 2.8 assists. Rachal has scored in double figures in four of five games she has played in this season. She will look to get back into double figure scoring after scoring five points at Tulane after getting into early foul trouble.
Rogers is nearly averaging a double double, as she is second on the team in rebounds with 9.3 per game.
The Cowgirls have distributed the scoring so far and have had five players score in double figures in four games and four players scored in double figures once, that being at Tulane.
Louisiana Tech (2-3) is riding a two game winning streak following a 73-53 road win at UL-Monroe Tuesday night. LA Tech leads the all-time series 18-7 but McNeese has won the last two meetings and three of the last five meetings including a 74-71 win in Ruston last year. McNeese picked up a 62-51 win in Lake Charles during the 2013-14 season, the last time the Lady Techsters came to Lake Charles.
Jasmine LeBlanc leads a trio of Lady Techsters in scoring with 17.4 ppg. She also leads the team with 9.0 rpg. Kierra Anthony is averaging 11.8 ppg. and Rochelle Vasquez is averaging 10.2 ppg.
