LAKE CHARLES—The McNeese women's basketball team will look to bounce back from its loss to UCA Wednesday with a 1 p.m. game against Lamar Saturday at Burton Coliseum. The game has been designated as the Cowgirls' Cystic Fibrosis game. Five year-old Landon McKee, who signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) with the Cowgirls on Thursday, will be introduced prior to the starting lineups.
McNeese (16-10, 8-6 SLC) will be facing Lamar (10-15, 6-8 SLC) for the first time this season and will turn around and travel to Beaumont, Texas on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game in the Montagne Center.
Jayln Johnson and
Allison Baggett continue to lead McNeese in scoring with 15.0 and 13.7 ppg. Johnson also leads McNeese in assists with 5.2 per game and needs seven more to become McNeese's career leader. She also leads the team with 1.4 steals and a 91.8 free throw percent. Haywood continues to lead McNeese with 8.3 rebounds per game.
Lamar also has two players averaging in double figures with Addesha Collins leading the way with 15.3 ppg. Kiara Desamours is averaging 10.0 ppg. and leads the Cardinals in rebounds with 7.0 per game.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will have a booth with information available. Parents who have kids will be on hand to answer questions about DF. T-shirts will be tossed to the fans as well as small basketballs, courtesy of Jeff Davis Bank.
