LAKE CHARLES-- The McNeese women's basketball team will attempt to get back on the winning track Wednesday when the Cowgirls travel to Hammond to face Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
McNeese (15-8, 7-4 SLC) will look to pick up its second win over Southeastern La. this season after a 96-79 win in Lake Charles on Jan. 27.
The Cowgirls are coming off an 84-81 road loss at Nicholls last Saturday that saw the Cowgirls let a 12-point fourth quarter lead slip away. Sophomore
Keara Hudnall came off the bench lead the Cowgirls with a career high 24 points. The Cowgirls also got 22 points from
Allison Baggett and 14 from
Victoria Rachal. Hudnall and Rivas led the Cowgirls with eight rebounds apiece.
Senior point guard
Jayln Johnson continues to lead McNeese in scoring (15.0), free throw percent (91.3), assists (5.3), and steals (1.4). She continues to play through an injury and it was evident against Nicholls after scoring two points in 21 minutes played.
Baggett is second on the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game and
Amber Donnes, who missed the Nicholls game, is averaging 10.2 ppg.
Sophomores Frederica Heywood and
Jasmyn Carswell continue to lead McNeese in rebounding with 8.3 and 6.2 rpg., respectively.
Southeastern La. (3-18, 2-8) will look to snap a six game losing streak after falling 88-72 to league leading Abilene Christian on Saturday.
The Lady Lions have three players averaging in double figures and are led in scoring and rebounding by Nanna Pool. Pool is averaging 14.3 ppg. and 8.2 rpg. Taylin Underwood is averaging 13.8 ppg. and KaeLynn Boyd is averaging 12.1 ppg.
