NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The McNeese baseball team dropped its sixth straight game during an 11-2 loss Saturday as the Cowboys fell to Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference action at Jaycees Field in Nacogdoches.
With the loss, McNeese dipped to 23-20 overall and 13-13 in league action while SFA improved to 25-22 on the year along with a 13-13 SLC record. The six consecutive losses are the longest losing drought for the Pokes this season.

Bryan King (4-3) took the loss while going just 1.2 innings with four runs (two earned) allowed on four hits with one strikeout. Senior
Bryce Kingsley provided the longest session for McNeese as he tossed 2.1 frames and gave up two earned runs off of five hits.
Lumberjack starting pitcher Erik Nouis (4-4) picked up the win after working 8.0 innings and gave up only two runs despite scattering eight hits. He struck out five in the process.

Austin Nelson provided a pair of RBI's that cut in the Lumberjack lead.
SFA grabbed a 2-0 lead with three hits in the first inning off King.
The Jacks added two runs in the second inning and plated two runs on two hits, a walk and passed ball in the third inning to grab a 6-0 lead.
Stephen F. Austin would go on to score five more runs throughout the next three frames to take an 11-0 lead before McNeese would plate two in the eighth.
McNeese stranded six runners in scoring position in the Saturday contest while SFA left 10 total on base.
Joe Provenzano and
Ricky Ramirez led the offensive effort with two hits apiece during the game while six total Cowboys recorded a hit during the game. No McNeese batters drew a walk during the contest.
The Pokes and Jacks will be back in action Sunday as the two squads face off in the series finale set for a 1 p.m. start in Nacogdoches.
