LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's soccer squad will round out its non-conference portion of the schedule Sunday afternoon when the Cowgirls welcome Prairie View A&M to Lake Charles for a 1 p.m. kickoff at Cowgirl Field.
McNeese (3-4, 0-1 SLC) dropped its Southland Conference opener to Southeastern Louisiana Friday evening as the Lions surged in the second half to score a 3-1 victory. The Cowgirls have now dropped four consecutive contests since opening the season with three straight wins.
Kayla Goedicke scored the lone goal for McNeese in its league opening game that brought her goal total to two on the year.
Savannah LaRicci received credit for the assist and continues to lead the Cowgirls with 11 points after having also scored five goals.
Prairie View A&M (0-6) has struggled at the beginning of this season having not scored a goal in its first six contests. The Lady Panthers dropped its Friday night match to the University of St. Thomas, 2-0. Prairie View has matched up against three Southland Conference schools this season including Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word and Houston Baptist.
McNeese leads the all-time series against Prairie View 6-0, with the Cowgirls taking a 5-0 win over the Lady Panthers in 2015. McNeese has posted shutouts against Prairie View in their last four meetings.
