LAKE CHARLES—McNeese soccer couldn't find an answer for a potent Central Arkansas team here Friday night in its 5-0 Southland Conference loss.
UCA's Alex Moore and Dayna Mounie both scored two goals apiece and Ashley Smith scored one for the Bears who improved to 7-3 overall and remained undefeated in conference play at 2-0.
Moore gave UCA a quick 1-0 lead in the second minute of the contest then scored her second goal of the game in the 25
th minute for a 2-0 UCA lead. UCA held a 3-0 halftime lead after Smith scored two minutes following Moore's goal.
It didn't take UCA long to find the back of the net in the second half when Mounie gave the Bears a 4-0 lead with her first goal of the game, 1:08 seconds into the second half. Mounie concluded the scoring in the 53
rd minute when she scored off a deflection from a save by Cowgirl goalie
Annie Bravenec for a 5-0 lead. Shelby Wilson was credited with two assists and Moore dished to Mounie on the last UCA goal.
McNeese (4-5, 0-2 SLC) had its chances as the Cowgirls attempted 11 corner kicks but nothing to show for them. The Cowgirls attempted 10 shots on the night with half of them coming off the foot of
Savannah LaRicci.
Bettina Brulhart was credited with three and
Hannah Sutherland and
Kelley Clancey had one each. Bravenec ended the game with five saves.
