Soccer To Face Off Against UAB In Sunday Contest

LAKE CHARLES – The McNeese women's soccer team continues its weekend road stretch with a trip to Birmingham and will face off against the University of Alabama-Birmingham Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m.

The Cowgirls (3-0) head into Sunday's match undefeated after dominating Southern, 6-1, Friday evening in Baton Rouge. McNeese has outscored its first three opponents, 10-2, this season.
 
Junior Savannah LaRicci is leading the way for the Cowgirls with four goals scored while six players have scored at least one goal. Senior Bettina Brulhart leads the team in assists with three.
 
UAB (2-2) defeated UNC-Asheville, 4-1, Thursday evening to improve to a 2-1 record on its home turf. The Blazers have scored nine goals so far this year and attempted 27 shots on goal.

Caroline Kehreer leads with seven points and goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty has made 14 saves.
 
Sunday's match will be the first time that the two programs have faced each other on the pitch. McNeese is 8-16-2 against all C-USA schools with four wins against Louisiana Tech and UTSA.
 
Following the match on Sunday, McNeese will travel to UL-Lafayette on Friday, Sept. 9 before coming home to face ULM Sundat, Sept. 11.
