LAKE CHARLES-- McNeese volleyball will be begin a five-match home stand that will run through mid-October beginning with Thursday night's match against Abilene Christian. First serve is set for 7 p.m. Streaming will be available on mcneesesports.com.
McNeese (11-8, 3-2 SLC) heads into the match in sixth place in the conference standings while Abilene Christian (6-10, 2-2 SLC) is right behind in seventh place. It will be the second match between the two teams in just over a week. McNeese made a Texas road trip last week and picked up a 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-17) win over the Wildcats last Tuesday.
The home stand will continue with a 12:30 p.m. match against second place Sam Houston State (7-9, 4-0 SLC) on Saturday. This will be the only regular season match against Bearkats this season. The Cowgirls will take on Northwestern State (Oct. 12), Central Arkansas (Oct. 14) and Prairie View (Oct. 17).
As a team, the Cowgirls lead the league in digs (1,265) and rank fourth with a .219 hitting percent. Sophomore
Shanna Spree ranks third in the SLC with a .336 hitting percent, sixth with 26 service aces and sophomore
Angela McGownd leads the league with 392 assist for an average of 5.37 per set.
