LAKE CHARLES—McNeese volleyball, winners of five of their last seven matches including a 3-1 win over Abilene Christian on Thursday, will host league leading Sam Houston State at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gym. McNeese (12-8, 4-2 SLC) is currently in sixth place and are only one match out of second place which is held down by Houston Baptist and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi who are both 5-1. Central Arkansas is 4-1 in league play after a win over the Islanders on Thursday. Sam Houston State will come to Lake Charles with an 8-9 overall record with the only undefeated conference record at 5-0.
 
Cowgirl setter Adison Giambrone will look to join an elite group on Saturday. Giambrone is one dig shy of becoming a member of the McNeese 1,000 career dig club. After eight digs on Thursday, she now has 999 to her credit.
 
Sophomore Shanna continues to lead the Cowgirls in kills with 197 and ranks fourth in the SLC. Spree leads the conference in service aces with 27 while libero Angela McGownd leads the league with 420 digs and is averaging 5.45 per set.
 
The Bearkats enter the match leading the SLC in service ace average with 1.82 per set.
